World peace begins with you.

Confucius said,

“To put the world right in order,

we must first put the nation in order;

to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order;

to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life;

we must first set our hearts right.

Meditation is one of the best and most simple ways you can set your heart right.

Meditation centers your consciousness in the awareness that you are a soul, linked with every other soul on the planet.

Meditation helps you become more loving, more generous, and more kind.

Meditation attunes your mind to the creative source of your life. Meditation enables you to hear the voice of God.

To promote inner peace and outer peace, the School of Metaphysics has been teaching people to meditate for three decades. Beginning December 31st at 5 a.m. EST we encourage people to join hearts and minds in a Day of Meditation — 24 Hours of Living Meditatively. As the hour is extended you join with others across the globe as they welcome the passing and entry of another new year. Between 11:30 p.m. and January 1st 12:30 a.m. is theUniversal Hour of Peace when we ask people to meditate, pray, and live centered in God consciousness.

How can you participate?

If you live in a city where we have a School of Metaphysics branch location, join us for meditation and prayers for peace. Each SOM location will be a sanctuary with quiet rooms for individual meditation around the clock, special times for group meditation and chanting, and on the hour we will pray for peace around the world.

If you live too far from an SOM branch to join us in person, join us in spirit by meditating in your home, place of worship, outdoors, or in your workplace. Pray with us on the hour, “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” sending this heartfelt desire to each of the continents and its inhabitants.

Send us a letter or e-mail (som@som.org) telling us about your experiences during the Day of Meditation. We will share these with other people who are linking hearts, minds, and spirits in creating an uplifted consciousness for themselves and for all of humanity. Together, we can be a force for good in the world.

*Our prayer is respectfully based upon a prayer for peace encouraged by the Peace Prayer Society, the organization that promotes the erecting of Peace Poles around the globe. A related article appears elsewhere at this site. As metaphysicians we seek to identify the point of origin, the cause, for every expression of energy. Light causes peace, therefore, praying to reflect this awareness, to encouage this awareness, to be one with this causal awareness sets into motion what will bring peace.

A Light shines so bright
it fills my being with smiles.
A Light shines so far it travels
across the universe.
A Light shines so still it
warms and comforts the near.
A Light shines so pure it brings
life to all who are here
A Light shines in the darkness
to tell us just where we are.
A Light divine it brings
wholeness to all of mankind.
